INDIANAPOLIS For the first time this year, home sales in the Indianapolis area showed a monthly gain, according to an early snapshot released Monday by Landrigan & Co. Realtors. The report said home sales in September increased 5.2 percent over the same month a year ago. Landrigan, which tracks sales in 13 counties including Marion, said 2,192 homes were sold, up from 2,084 in September 2007. The number of homes listed for sale -- the backlog -- also fell by 8.6 percent to 19,751. The average sale price dropped 5 percent to $139,627. Final numbers will be released by the Metropolitan Indianapolis Board of Realtors later this month. (Star report)
